Profile:
As a graduate of Peking University’s School of International Studies, Hu Bo previously worked at the Center for Chinese Strategic Studies and the Institute of Ocean Research at Peking University. He is currently a Researcher at School of International Studies and Director of the Center for Maritime Strategy Studies. Additionally, he serves as Director of the “South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative” (SCSPI), Adjunct Professor at the China Institute for South China Sea Studies, and Guest Research Fellow at Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy.
Specializing in maritime strategy and policy, his research focuses on sea power theory, South China Sea disputes, international security, and U.S. military affairs. He has published over 50 academic papers in leading domestic and international journals such as World Economics and Politics, International Review, Foreign Affairs Review, and The Journal of Chinese Political Science, as well as multiple monographs on maritime affairs. Notable works include China-U.S. Military Competition and Strategic Balance in the Western Pacific, China’s Sea Power in the Post-Mahan Era, and Chinese Maritime Power in the 21st Century.
