Profile

Guan Guihai, male, Associate Professor, Executive Deputy Director of the Institute of International Strategic Studies, Peking University. Born in September 1965 in Heilongjiang, he was admitted to the Department of International Politics at Peking University in July 1984, graduated in 1988, and stayed on as faculty. From 1990 to 1993, he pursued a Master’s degree at the Marxism Institute of Peking University. From 1993 to 1998, he was sponsored by the Ministry of Education to pursue a PhD in Political Science at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Since 1998, he has taught at the School of International Studies, Peking University. He has long been engaged in teaching and research on Chinese politics, Russian politics and diplomacy, and Sino-U.S.-Russia relations, publishing works such as Yeltsin’s Era, Putin’s Era, Can Russia Do Socialism, Sino-Russian Relations: History and Reality (Volume 2) (editor), Russia and the West: From Alexander I to Putin, and others. He also serves as the director of the Contemporary Russian Studies Center at Peking University, executive council member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center, and international editorial board member of Journal of Moscow University (Political Science) and Region (Indiana University). He has been honored as an Outstanding Young Teacher by the Ministry of Education.
