SIS Students Attend the “2023 CAMPUS Asia Plus Social Innovation Forum” at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
20 Jul 2023

From July 7 to 9, 2023, the School organized a group of over ten undergraduate students to participate in the CAMPUS Asia program 2023 Social Innovation Forum held at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The forum brought together more than 40 faculty members and students from Waseda University (Japan), Korea University, Nanyang Technological University, and Peking University. It consisted of three main parts: a Treasure Hunt, academic lectures and discussions, and group presentations.

The Treasure Hunt was designed to guide students to experience and analyze Singapore’s local communities, culture, work, and daily life, thereby deepening their understanding of regional similarities and internal diversity. During the academic forum sessions, professors from the four universities delivered lectures on topics including “Violence, Peace, and Social Innovation,” “Globalization, Evolution, and the Rebalancing of Governance,” “The Security Environment in East Asia,” and “The Impact of Culture on Social Interaction.” In the group presentation session, students presented their reflections on Singapore’s multiculturalism and social cooperation, reporting and discussing the outcomes of the Treasure Hunt. Team members from different countries worked together to gather insights, search for answers, and develop a comprehensive understanding of how cooperation and coordination can address real-life challenges and contribute to building a sustainable society.

After three days of cultural exchange and intellectual engagement, the 2023 CAMPUS Asia Plus Social Innovation Forum concluded successfully. The forum encouraged students to think deeply and exchange ideas on social innovation, enhanced academic dialogue and collaboration among leading universities in East Asia, established a high-level platform for cooperation in the social sciences, and further advanced the CAMPUS Asia “China-Japan-Korea + X” partnership.
