On March 25, 2024, Ma Keqing (Former Ambassador to Finland, the Philippines, and the Czech Republic) was invited to deliver a lecture for the English-taught course Chinese Politics and Foreign Relations at the School of International Studies (SIS), PKU. Ambassador Ma presented the core concepts and practices of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, including building a community with a shared future for mankind, the three Global Initiatives, and the Belt and Road Initiative. She also focused on the history and current state of China–Europe relations and China’s policies toward Europe, before answering questions from the students. More than 60 students and faculty members from the PKU–LSE Program, PKU–Sciences Po Program, CAMPUS Asia Program, and the MIR Program attended the lecture and engaged in discussion.
During the lecture, Ambassador Ma encouraged young students to act as bridges of communication and mutual understanding, thereby contributing to the consolidation and strengthening of China–Europe relations. The session was highly interactive. Many students commented that the lecture enriched their understanding of Chinese diplomacy and China–Europe relations, and would provide valuable insights for their academic and career development.
