The “Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship” is a scholarship program provided by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China. This fully-funded scholarship is awarded to international students who wish to conduct further study in China. Admission criteria include academic merit, leadership potential, international experience, and long-term aspirations.
The School of International Studies (SIS) at Peking University is inviting applications for the “Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship”- 2024 Entry of the Master’s Degree Program in International Relations (MIR) .
The MIR program is one of the leading English-taught MA programs in International Relations in China. This program offers insights into the most recent developments in Chinese international relations studies and the Chinese perspectives on crucial issues such as world politics, international system, security, environment, energy, and other important topics and areas. Through coursework and thesis projects, students in the program will receive intensive and rigorous trainings and have an opportunity to deepen the understanding of International Relations and Chinese politics, society, and foreign relations.
I. Scholarship Arrangements
1. Enrollment program: Master’s Degree Program in International Relations (MIR)

3. Training approach and duration:
The program adopts the ‘1+1’ mode. In the first academic year, enrolled students fulfill the full-time course-taking requirement, gain all required credits of the MIR program and finish thesis preparations at the School of International Studies (SIS) of Peking University with full one-year scholarship. In the second academic year, students return to their home countries to complete the thesis based on their professional context and experiences. After finishing research and writing, students are expected to come back to China to defend their theses. Students will obtain their degrees upon meeting all the requirements.

II.Application requirements
1. Non-Chinese citizens under the age of 45, physically and mentally healthy.
2. With a bachelor's or advanced degree, and at least three years of work experiences. Those with academic and professional background related to the program are preferred.
3. Applicants must fit into at least one of the following four categories:
1) Chief staff member (or equivalent) of governmental departments;
2) Senior managerial role in non-governmental (including private) institutions;
3) Administrative management role in higher education or research institutions;
4) Former or current employee of international organizations (including internship experiences).
III. Application Procedure
Applicants need to first apply to the MIR program. After receiving the pre-admission, applicants will then apply for the scholarship.
Please check the Application Materials and Submission procedure of MIR program: The applicant must complete the online application through the International Student Service System of Peking University and submit the application materials to the MIR program via email with the subject“Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship”before March 15,2024 (Beijing time). After the Interviews/Assessment procedure of MIR program, qualified candidates of the scholarship will receive a pre-admission letter from Peking University before April 10, 2024.
Applicants who pass the pre-admission need to complete the online application of the scholarship through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS, https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) before 24:00 April 15, 2024(the “Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship”is classified as “type A”, institution code“1563”). The final review of the application will be conducted directly by the China Scholarship Council.
